Well we always knew that food could bring people together, but on 7 May 2014 at the Art House in Southampton, we showed that food could create the energy for change.
17 different food stories were shared from our city. These stories were from individuals and groups who are taking the initiative to do something different with the way they source food. We heard from community farms, people who are joining together cooperatively to buy food and trees, individuals who are getting out there to gather and grow food, creative cooks foraging for ingredients, the shocking news of good food which goes straight to our city’s bins, and a new idea for insect eating.
And people wanted to connect with each other, want to meet again to share ideas and together grow a strong local food movement in Southampton. So we’ll be doing summer picnic where we can all gather together again and continue the discussion.
Our next event will be on Wednesday 4 June at the Art House. We’ll be showing a film about Waste, and we’d love you to join us there. If you care about community and social change, these events are for you.
We’ll blog more about this soon, but here are some photos in the meantime.
